More than a century ago, fisherman Vićentije Vukotić opened a tavern on the ground floor of his house, which very quickly became well known for its fish soup with a unique taste, the traditional recipe that is still used.

Restaurant Saran, located on Kej Oslobodjenja (Quay of freedom) in the heart of Zemun, is a combination of rich tradition and modern fisherman spirit. Founded more than a century ago by fisherman Vicentije Vukotić, Saran quickly became famous for its fish soup with a unique taste, which is prepared according to a traditional recipe that is still used today.

The ambience of our restaurant is characterized by a unique combination of traditional and modern design. We are located on the banks of the Danube river, which offers a wonderful view and makes our restaurant the perfect place to relax and enjoy excellent food. We are proud to point out top service and a pleasant atmosphere that attracts guests from all over the world.

A Cuisine to Remember


It is known that the people from the river banks, and the people from the Danube river in particular, not only do not have too much passion for seafood specialties, but also take pride in their restaurants, which serve exclusively river fish dishes. That tradition in the “Saran” restaurant lasted for almost 110 of its now 120 years of existence. Nevertheless, the new time, brought this novelty and opened some new doors reversed the current course of things and poured the sea into the Danube, introduced seafood to the regular restaurant menu.
The kitchen is the heart of our restaurant and our pride. Our menu offers a wide selection of fresh fish specialties, Mediterranean and European dishes, as well as options for vegetarians and people with a gluten-free diet. We place special emphasis on carefully selected wines from the sunny hills of the Balkans, which perfectly complements the gastronomic experience.
